Dicksonia antarctica
Tasmanian tree fern. The trunk is made up of dead leaves and humus, in which the roots of the plant develop. Grows 3-5 cm per year. Can reach an age of 400 years and have a trunk diameter of 1 meter.
Loves shady place. Especially with dry weather make the trunk occasionally very wet so the roots absorb the moisture well. So water from above to wed the trunk.
Is fairly hardy. But below -5 C, the tree fern should be well packed and cover the soil with bark or anything. Also isolate the trunk with straw or leaves.
In pot the plant can be kept in a dark frost-free room. However, water once a month to keep trunk moist.
Fertilize once a month in growing season.
